Acne rosacea - evolution of rosacea

        Early Stage

  • The face gradually assumes a red complexion as if the person was marked with a sunburn. This redness is caused by a large blood flow circulating rapidly through the vessels of the skin face.
  • About half of people with rosacea have red and dry eyes. The irritation remains minor in most cases. In the rare cases where the situation is worsening, you'd better act quickly so that the vision is not affected. An inflammation of the eyelids is not excluded.

       Middle Stage

  • Over time, the redness becomes more pronounced and persistent. Facial skin can also become very dry.
  • The significant blood flow that occurs in the small vessels of the face causes them to dilate. Eventually, these vessels may become visible and create thin red lines on the skin, especially on the cheeks. This is called telangiectasia. This phenomenon can be hidden by redness of the skin, but usually red lines become visible when the redness fades.
  • Small, red, solid (papules) or filled with pus (pustules) spots that may appear on the face.
  • In some people, the eyes may be red, burned and irritated.

       Advanced Stage

  • The skin inflammation worsens further.
  • When is not rosacea, sebaceous glands of the nose may increase in size, forming fleshy protuberances that make it seem larger. This condition, called rhinophyma, is much more common in men than in women. It requires surgical correction.

Acne rosacea treatment - At each stage

The treatment of rosacea has are different forms. One can use cream or emulsion. They are not acting on the visible vessels. There are also some antibiotics, very effective against severe rosacea. In most cases, physical treatments are recommended. The most common is laser, which acts on the redness and dilated vessels by releasing heat. It often requires several sessions, depending on the severity of injuries, and unfortunately is not definitive. The symptoms markedly attenuated, may reappear over the years. Electrocoagulation may also be a solution. Less practiced, it is to solidify the vessels one by one using an electric needle. Finally, for persistent edema, the CO2 laser and surgery remain the last resort and consists in removing a portion of the skin. However, follow up the lifestyle advice and if you are responsive and if you have sensitive skin, use a suitable day cream. Once installed, rosacea is more difficult to treat. Do not hesitate to consult your dermatologist if you have any doubt, this will help avoid complications.
